Code_Aster is distributed as open source software under the name of "Code_Aster Libre". That version is the version developed by EDF and the project contributors (see the development section). The source code is the same as that from the Development version, but some specific documentation elements are restricted to EDF access. The distinction between these two versions is only made so that EDF can identify the periodically qualified version; thus, all modification can be regrouped to form the new EDF qualified version Support.
This version corresponds to the version verified by EDF and used for its research projects. The Quality chart refers to that version. This version must be used for EDF projects, and for projects undertaken by its suppliers. All suppliers which are using the free version should contact their EDF intermediary to request the adequate version of the code.
The exploitation (currently V9) and development (V10) versions regularly evolve while in the so-called NEW state.
The STA development version becomes the new Free Code_Aster version. It is released a few weeks after stabilisation.
