HOMARD-Code_Saturne : Computational Fluid Dynamics

French version

Red ball Description

The first 3D test is run with the FATHER case. It simulates the thermal evolution after a junction between two pipes No error indicator is available in Code_Saturne for that modelisation; so a physical field is chosen to indicate the cells to split. For this case, the eddy energy seems to be suitable to follow the stream.
The initial global mesh is :

Maillage global

Refinement is located in the main pipe, immediately after the junction, where the eddy energy is high. On pictures, the interface between refined and non-refined zone can be seen in white.

This table presents the CPU time for one time step with Code_Saturne on each of the 5 successive meshes and the cost of the mesh adaptation by Homard. these results show that the cost of one adaptation is about 5% of the cost of a time-step resolution. Though, the built of a structure of the mesh raises time calculation for the first adaptation.
