[SOLVED] 2D contact with CONTINUE, and displacements in Z?

Hello!

I am testing Aster's possibilities for contact mechanics (10.00.15). With the CONTINUE method, for the frictionless contact between a cylinder and a rigid flat, I get strange displacements in Z direction of contact nodes. How can it be possible in a 2D model?

I guess I am doing something wrong... but what?

Hi Theobalt,

With the CONTINUE method an additional degree of freedom is appended to the displacements, this dof is known in Code_Aster as LAGS_C and it is the contact pressure at the slave nodes. Therefore in a 2D model the available dofs at the nodes are DX DY LAGS_C. If your post-pro software reads by default the first 3 components of a displacement field to compute the deformed shape (as it is the case with Salomé) you get what seems to be a strange displacement in the Z direction (remark that it is only at the slave nodes).

To avoid this, you should only print the DX DY components of the DEPL field using the NOM_CHAM='DEPL' and NOM_CMP keywords.
