RBE3 Tested [SOLVED]


I just wanted to give my feed-back about the new RBE3 feature in AFFE_CARA_MECA. I tried it out and must admit it really works just the way I like it :-)

I use it to define zero displacement boundary conditions or to apply a force or moment to a face. As said by other users, it is not very realistic, but it allows to simulate a "soft" boundary condition which avoids most local high stress which appear when using single point constraints.

The two examples added are linear 3D: one for remote fixed DOF (translation or rotation) and one for a remote nodal force. I use a single discreet POI1 element as master and this works just fine, but you do have to give the mass and stiffness matrices (=0) with AFFE_CARA_ELEM.

If I understand correctly, the coef_escl is only usefull if may groups are defined, so just put =1 if you have only 1 slave group.

This adds allot of ease of use for daily business, thank-you CA !
