Problems linking MED

Hi

If I extract the MED source files and install them into '/usr/local' in Mandriva 2008.1 they are compiled with gcc4.2

Then when I try to install code aster (with '_installMED'=false in setup.cfg) I get linking errors against MED. Does the python installer try to compile using gcc3 instead of gcc4?
