Model a rigid shell

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to model a 3 points bending using shell cylinders (see picture).
Basically the cylindres must be rigid bodies, so I used LIAISON_SOLIDE and I created 2 discrete 0D elements (one for each set of pins) on which I applied the boundary conditions.
I also defined contact, but I'm not sure it's right yet, because my main problem is that I'm not sure which MODELISATION to use.
I tried DKT, COQUE_3D, COQUE_AXIS but I always have problems with my CREA_MAILLAGE or AFFE_CARA_ELEM.
I looked into the MODELISATION of the U3 doc but I cannot determine the one I need.
Could someone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance
Manon

Re: Model a rigid shell

hello

provide the mesh please
to me your comm file looks like an horrible hotchpotch (méli mélo ou pire fatras en français) of incompatible things

why going to a quadratic mesh?
why not using the mesh named mesh directly?

Re: Model a rigid shell

Hello,

post mesh file.  You are using many strange operations to me.
But, I think that the error is well explained in mess file. You can't use the AXIS modelisation for curved geometry.

La modélisation choisie est axisymétrique ou plane.          !
!   Il faut que le maillage soit dans le plan z=0.               !
!   Ce n'est pas le cas.

Re: Model a rigid shell

Hello, thanks for your replies

I cannot attach the mesh, it is way too heavy...

Yes sorry I would even use "bordel". I lost my self when trying the different MODELISATION.

I tried to change the shells to quadratic and use QUAD8_9 when I tried the MODELISATION='COQUE_3D' because the "mailles support" are supposed to be QUAD9.

I'll try to do it directly and see if it is any better. It's true that changing the mesh like that can also cause problems
