Re: Support Wanted :Terminal Command to Install Code Astar in Ubuntu 18.04

hello

my book freely downloadable here
framabook.org/beginning-with-code_aster/
contains some instructions about how to install code_aster
but there is not much more than the detailed instructions given in the download pages of this site

should i say that if you are not ready to go through the installation steps you are probably not ready to to solve some complex mechanics problems in finite element analysis

Re: Support Wanted :Terminal Command to Install Code Astar in Ubuntu 18.04

Respected Sir,

I am not software engineer thus facing difficulty, By Theory Formulas i can solve mechanical problems. Already Using Elmer, but want to go understand code aster looking to its capability.

Anybody can give Clear Reply, How to Install Code aster in ubuntu 18.04....From Terminal ..

A Forum defines Success of Software, If Forum cannot  solve newcomer difficulty, then Code Aster cannot get New Users.

Re: Support Wanted :Terminal Command to Install Code Astar in Ubuntu 18.04

it looks like a few hundreds of people installed code_aster with the instructions given on this site pages
they most probably were not software engineer, neither was i when i did my first install about 12 years ago
and if anything goes wrong during installation the forum is here to help
as for the very start of the installation i cannot say more than what i said in my previous post
it is not that difficult when one follows the instruction

Re: Support Wanted :Terminal Command to Install Code Astar in Ubuntu 18.04

this what i can read from the provided setup.log file
you typed

/usr/bin/python setup.py install --prefix//home/sameer/Downloads/aster compile file

in the terminal
setup-log says

action : only 'install' or 'test'.

maybe compile and file are unknown argument

by the way i have never such a setup.log file

again why do not you follow the instruction on the code aster page in this site?

Re: Support Wanted :Terminal Command to Install Code Astar in Ubuntu 18.04

Hello,
With this attitude you are not going very far with Code Aster.
With Code Aster you have to think like a coder and you must have patience and perseverance and ofcourse be polite.
If you are beginning with Code_Aster, using code aster directly might be a bad idea. You can first try using Salome_Meca which uses Code Aster solver.
It seems you are missing Xterm Terminal. Try installing Xterm.
